5. Great child-friendly neighbourhood cafe with creamy mushrooms

Amazing food at the Birdwood in Beckenham with a good mini menu for the kids. Creative smoothies, a killer brunch menu plus don't let the good times stop there. The Birdwood also offers a full pizzeria with a great selection of pizzas, pasta and desserts to keep the good times rolling.

4. Snap a shot in the beautiful blooming conservatory

Transport yourself to the beating heart of Christchurch's Botanic scene this winter in the vibrant local conservatory.

With many different gardens to explore this spot is a must! Opposite Illex cafe you will find the entrance to this haven of bright blooms, cactus gardens and more.

3. Share the chef's tasting platter for two at Whet Bar

With over 180 gins to match and open Saturday, enjoy the tasting platter with a friend for $20 pp.

A unique combination of dumplings, skewers and bhaii to enjoy in the inner city of Christchurch.

2. Tour around some contemporary art at Coca - Centre of Contemporary Art

Photos of Christchurch's red zone by Tim Veling and as of this weekend an exhibition by Auckland-based artist Tiffany Singh

1. Enjoy the views from Mitchell's Track

With these short days and wet weather finding an outdoor activity can be hard, but we have seen a quick and easy solution for this week! Mitchells 20 minute each way walk consists of just over 2km total, with views worth walking for starting from The Sign of the Kiwi.
